📢 People in the US can still legally access abortion pills by post – for now.
The US Supreme Court has ruled that the abortion pill mifepristone can still be accessed by mail, after a federal court temporarily restricted access.
Whilst this is good news, the legal back-and-forth in the US will fuel abortion disinformation worldwide.
Abortion pills, and the ability to receive them via post, are an essential part of reproductive healthcare. We stand with US partners fighting hard to defend access.

Breaking news! The contraceptive implant has been licensed for use for up to 5 years in the UK.
New clinical evidence has shown that the implant (brand name Nexplanon), previously used for up to 3 years, continues to be safe and effective for up to 5 years. 💙
A recent study found that no pregnancies were reported in years 4 and 5 of continued use.
The news applies to any contraceptive implants being fitted for the first time, and those that are already in use. This means that, if you're in the UK and you already have an implant, you do not need to do anything – you can continue to rely on this as a method of contraception for the 5 year period.

When accessing abortion care at MSI, you may wonder whether you can bring someone to your abortion.
Many people are helped through their abortion experience by someone close to them, to talk to, go through abortion information or attend your appointment with.
Whether you attend your appointment by yourself or have someone there with you, having support from someone close to you can make a big difference 💙

Finally 👏 No one in England and Wales will be prosecuted for ending their own pregnancy.
Abortion is healthcare, not a crime. In the UK, this is now a reality. Everywhere else, we’ll keep fighting.
▶️ Watch along to find out how we got here.
#abortion #abortionlawreform
It’s official: abortion has been decriminalised in England and Wales, following a landmark campaign from Cosmopolitan, BPAS, MSI and over twenty organisations working to support women.
In a landmark shift, women can no longer be arrested, investigated or prosecuted for ending their own pregnancies under outdated Victorian-era laws. Campaigners say it’s a long-overdue move that treats abortion as healthcare, not a criminal offence.
Important context: this does not change existing time limits or make abortion “legal up until birth” (something anti-choice groups are wrongly trying to claim the rule change allows...) – medical guidelines still apply, and healthcare providers remain regulated.

📢 From today, no one in England and Wales can be prosecuted for ending their own pregnancy.
This marks a major step forward for abortion rights. New legislation has now been enacted, putting a stop to the prosecution of women who end their own pregnancies.
How did we get here?
➡️ In recent years, there has been a sharp rise in criminal investigations under Victorian-era law, with multiple women accused of ending their own pregnancies outside the terms of the Abortion Act 1967.
➡️ Last June, MPs voted to stop the prosecution of women ending their own pregnancies.
➡️ The bill then progressed through both Houses of Parliament.
➡️ Now, the bill has become law, bringing an end to these prosecutions.
We have proudly campaigned for this reform alongside 40+ other pro-choice organisations, including doctors, nurses, royal colleges, abortion providers, and gender-based violence charities.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign for this reform 💙
