What a treat to be able to talk all things footy, Team Canada, The women’s pro game and the Northern Super league and see the Winnipeg community come together around the world’s game! Being able to see the original trophy - a symbol of success across the globe right here in the heart of Canada was pretty special!!

I realize looking back - the imprint you’ve left on me is like no other. My P.I.C - I will always be one to look back, cherish and wish I could replay the days when you were just a little kid or the many moments in-between because wow have we done some “ living “ together getting to experience all kinds of things - but I’ve also learned as each year passes and you grow into the man you are becoming - I have to let go a little bit more from the little hand I used to hold. Last week, we celebrated five years of Women in Sport at @CanadaLifeCentre ! This year, we teamed up on a $5,000 Women in Sport Scholarship to help grow its impact – supporting a woman pursuing post secondary education and making a meaningful difference in sport and in her community. Olympic Gold Medalist Desiree Scott shared her story of mentorship and representation at our Hot Stove event, before joining the puck drop at centre ice. Fans filled our POWER PLAY wall with messages of encouragement – showing that when we lift each other up, we all gain. . La semaine dernière a eu lieu la cinquième édition de l’événement Celebrating Women in Sport au Canada Life Centre! Et c’est avec fierté que nous participons cette année à la bourse d’études de 5000 $ afin d’accroître la portée de cette initiative. La bourse sert à soutenir le parcours postsecondaire d’une femme qui contribue à améliorer le monde du sport et s’implique activement dans sa communauté. La médaillée d’or olympique Desiree Scott a parlé de son expérience en matière de mentorat et de représentation lors de notre panel Hot Stove, avant de participer à la mise au jeu au centre de la patinoire. Trying to find the words….This year has been everything I didn’t know I needed and beyond exceeded my expectations. As the dust settles and the story comes to a close, I am so grateful for this final chapter. The book didn’t finish how I would have liked and being so close hurts plain and simple BUT to be a part of the history books that is the Northern Super League and help write the pages of year one with Ottawa Rapid while inspiring Canadian footballers everywhere knowing there is now a pathway for them - I am truly proud! To witness firsthand the growth of a group of players, staff and front office who were all strangers doing things for the first time to the endpoint of our season - it’s exciting to see that the future is oh so bright! Not only here in Ottawa but from coast to coast as this league continues to grow!! We have shown our Canadian brand and what we aspire to be! It has been my true honour to help lead this team and represent the Rapid in its inaugural year! Thank you is not enough to all those who made this dream of playing at home possible!
