This is a first! Another role debut, but a bit of a different ride. Firstly, I don’t kill anyone (directly) in this show, nor am I covered in blood by the end. I am, however, in my signature costume of 2026 (thank you Reiner!) “Ambur Braid’s voluptuous soprano suited the brief vocal role of Bianca” — Opera Now 🫠 We opened The Florentine Tragedy on Sunday at the @staatsoperhamburg - a lush opera by Alexander von Zemlinsky, with text by Oscar Wilde, woven into an evening of three musical works: Frauenliebe und Leben, Bluebeard’s Castle, and The Florentine Tragedy, directed by Tobias Kratzer. It’s a pleasure slinking and skulking around the likes of @johanreuterdk and @blondelle_thomas . The incredible @karina.canellakis is at the helm. 📸 Matthias Baus

@msamburbraid launched her 25/26 season in electrifying fashion, making her house debut at @staatsoperhamburg with her world-class, incendiary Salome. Hailed as one of the most exciting dramatic sopranos of her generation, Braid will further cement her authority in the role with a studio recording of Salome, to be released next year under the baton of Alexander Prior. As the year draws to a close, Ambur returns to Frankfurt for the final performance of her critically acclaimed Chawa in Tobias Kratzer's production of Die Erste Menschen. Meanwhile, anticipation builds in Berlin as rehearsals are already underway for her role debut as Katerina in Barrie Kosky's new production of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for the @komischeoperberlin . Premiering 31 January 2026 under James Gaffigan, the production promises to be one of the major operatic events of the season. Mexico City has been wonderful! Days full of studio recording, documentary filming and press. Having my outfits fully planned has been the only way I can focus on what actually matters: the singing.
