The first film played on my new BluRay player, in my new apartment…Grace of My Heart by the inimitable @msallisonanders ♥️ This gem of a film is one of my all time favourites and I am never not moved watching it! Extra bonus points that @jeffmcdonaldofficial and @stevenmcdonald are featured! LA represent!
And remembering a week ago in Shoreditch our delicious lunch and wonderful visit with Tiffany’s brother Alex and their father Phil, and Alex’s adorable super smart and funny son Woody! He’s my daughter’s only nephew. We’re all girls on my side! Thank you again @alexwhite.photos for your hospitality.
Still in the afterglow of our trip to London and screenings of Gas Food Lodging and Mi Vida Loca at @icalondon hosted by @lostreelsuk . So thrilled to have so many friends there, many who worked on the films: my producer Dan Hassid who did both Q&As with me, dear Bumble Ward our publicist who did the impossible for me on Mi Vida Loca and also from both movies my editor Tracy Granger and my production designer Jane Stewart from both films. Thank you all for being there ! Thank you friends and two former students David Martinez and Vanessa Fernandez one Mexican, one Chicana both killing it as film programmers in London! 💕 and it was way cool that my daughter Tiffany’s English dad Phil White came to London for Mi Vida Loca because in 1973 he took me to a movie at ICA and bought me my first ever espresso at the cafe there. Full circle and thank you Bumble for buying me one to keep up the tradition! I dedicate it all to my longtime friend Mary Buxton who had planned to come but couldn’t be with us and sent many wonderful friends in her place. Love you Mary❤️❤️

A wonderful visit today with my book editor, the legend Walter Donohue, at Faber & Faber. He always sends me off with his kindness, his patience and his insight and really terrific books!
It’s no coincidence that my magnificent sons birthday should follow International Women’s Day. Because this fine young man was raised by a matriarchy and had now created a beautiful family of women of his own! Fantastic father to 4 beautiful daughters, wonderful husband to his powerhouse wife, great brother to his two sisters who adore him, marvelous uncle to his niece, sweet grandson to my mother the matriarch and the best son to me I could ever have envisioned! So happy birthday @mrgoodbear ! Love you Ruben! 🎂💖🥰😘✨💘🎂
Superb London Sunday began with a visit to the swap meet @themildmayclub in Stoke Newington where I scored this amazing Zabriski Point poster( incredibly I’d just been telling everyone Saturday about the fate of the young male star of this film and his wild connection to the Lyman Family) ! And then it was off to Clissold Park to meet up with our dear longtime friend @danhassid168 , and his adorable dogs and ours. Dan produced nearly all of my films. We had so much catching up to do and we loved every second of it. Unforgettable visit with a friend I love. 🙏🏻🥰 🐶
Saturday in London with Tiffany at beautiful @thebetseytrotwood celebrating the belated birthday of Dolly Mixture’s Debsey! First time we’d ever met, what a thrill! Love her! I had met her husband before filmmaker @paulkellyfilm as we’ve had his fab movie “Lawrence Of Belgravia” @dktrfest . So good to see him again and great to meet sculptor @corinjohnsonart and his dog Charlie and to see dear lovely musician @emmatricca and oh my god to see again after so many long years Saint Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell and to laugh together and to tell her how her beautiful voice lives inside me, and to meet her husband Martin Kelly, Paul’s brother. Yes they’re all family! So cool! And of course to see Himself , Lawrence, and take this purposely downcast photo together. 😔Especially cherish this picture of two iconic Dolly Mixture gals Rachel and Debsey together. What a wonderful afternoon. Afterwards Tiff and I had a lovely dinner at Josette and we couldn’t wait for a photo to dive into the chocolate soufflé! Ahh London, I could get used to this, I could. 😎💖🏴 and happy birthday Debsey 🎂🥳
