Some things in life are meant to be remembered. Like the day I received a call from the French consulate in Australia informing me that I was going to receive the Chevaliere dans lâOrdre du Mèrite Agricole (French Order of Agricultural Merit) for mine and Luneâs contribution to French Gastronomy.
Last night at the Parliament of Victoria I had the great honour of receiving my Mèrite Agricole, alongside my dear friend and legend @kittensmithers , from His Excellency, the Ambassador of France to Australia, Pierre-AndrÊ Imbert.
Needless to say, more than a little bit specialđď¸
An enormous âmerci beaucoupâ to:

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would ever receive an Honorary Doctorate, particularly one in Business! In fact, I didnât even know they existed. An Honorary Doctorate is not something you can conciously set out to achieve.
Nearly 24 years ago when I commenced my Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering at RMIT University, my sole ambition in life was to pursue a technical career in Formula One.
Itâs ironic that my Aerospace Degree and time in F1 have been far from irrelevant to my experience in building Lune. Itâs those seemingly unrelated experiences that have resulted in Lune being so very different to every other bakery. Just as in engineering, evolution and innovation are core to the success of Lune.
I am so incredibly proud to have received this Honorary Doctorate from @rmituniversity - thank you so much for this extraordinary honour.
Privileged and humbled and, frankly, couldnât be more excited for the future.
From Formula One engineering to the precise architecture of laminated dough, Kate Reidâs @ms.lune story is one of discipline, reinvention and an uncompromising pursuit of craft. In Pastry Arts Magazine Issue 19, the founder of Lune Croissanterie @lunecroissant reflects on butter, texture and the singular pleasure of a croissant served warm from the oven.

Headed to Australia for the F1 season kick-off? Need a guide to Melbourne? Esses and @ms.lune are ready for 2026âs first race weekend.
Our âCulinary Guide to the Australian GPâ explores Melbourne through the taste of Kate Reid, the reigning âqueen of croissants,â a staple of the Melbourne food scene, and a former aerodynamicist for Williams F1.
Her @lunecroissant is considered one of the best on the planet, but two decades ago, the Melbournite had a very different life plan around the track. The world of F1 wasnât a fit for her then, but now sheâs found her way back. For the third straight year, Lune will have a dedicated booth at the Australian GP.
So as we wait for Albert Park to transform into track, hereâs Essesâ and @ms.lune Culinary Guide to the Australian GPâŚ
