Marlee Sinagra
Bound, 2024
Acrylic on canvas
24 x 36 inches
Marlee Sinagra’s paintings explore human connection through abstraction and distortion. In Bound, two figures appear caught in a moment of closeness, rendered in vivid, high-contrast shapes that feel both intimate and uncanny.
“My piece Bound is about the idea of an unspoken, unbreakable connection between two individuals,” Sinagra writes. “There is a silent communication of understanding that the two of you are simply bound for life.”
Sinagra strips the figures of defining characteristics, allowing viewers to step into the scene themselves. The work invites you to gaze, to interpret, to recognize a gesture or feeling that might mirror your own experience.
Touch becomes a language in this image, one that exists outside of speech. In the context of Dispatch, Bound transmits a message not through words, but through proximity, recognition, and the powerful pull of shared presence.

One Step Forward.
2024, air-dry clay and wood.
I came up with this piece after being prompted to create a sculpture that mixed natural and man-made forms. The extended toe came about from an accident where I set it down too rough on the table, but I think it ended up adding a lot of interest to the piece.
