âStop painting pills and start painting people - it pays the billsâ Andy Warhol to Richard Bernstein
Over coffee at Hotel Chelsea, Rory S. Trifonânephew of Richard Bernstein and President of his Estateâunlocked vivid memories of his uncleâs world. A personal lens into New Yorkâs late â70s and â80s art-pop-celebrity nexus, where icons were made and an extraordinary catalogue of pop-culture art came to life.
Thank you Rory for your generosity of time and tales. Canât wait for the documentary.
Richard famously designed and painted (by airbrush technique) the Interview magazine covers between 1972 - 1989.
An afternoon that had me completely reconnected and inspired to the 80âs downtown pop-art-disco scene of NYC through the incredible collection and curation of Geoff Snack â founder of âWrong Answerâ.
His private home is an emporium of ephemera, books and culture snacks (pun intended). We went through his archive of Studio 54 invites, memberships and drink tokens, Warhol personal pop antiquities, Haringâs street iconic hustle(s) and other rarities that I wanted to⌠keep everything.
Thanks Geoff for welcoming me into your home and your generosity. My new prized possessions will forever mark this moment. Make sure you visit Geoff when next in Brooklyn. @geoffsnack
