Today, Secondary School music students had the opportunity to perform with the Barbados Police Service Band. A culmination of three days of training and rehearsal.
This initiative in its second year, is a collaborative effort between the Barbados Police Service Band and the Ministry of Education Transformation.
Under the direction of Sgt. Jerome Clarke the combined band performed pieces such as Game of Thrones, Bossa Nova Holiday, Earth Wind & Fire and Lion King.
These collaborations continue to form part of the pathways towards expanded opportunities and curriculum for music education. It also aligns with the fundamental principals and tenets of education transformation in Barbados.
It was an honour to be a part of this initiative.

On January 14th, 2026, I had the distinct pleasure to stand with a cohort of distinguished gentlemen and ladies who took the oath or affirmation towards being sworn in as Justices of the peace.
Throughout the training, one of the things that stood out was the committment to service required in this post. It is not one to be taken for granted and certainly not a post one misrepresents.
I watched my great uncle, Mr. Cecil Elliot serve in this same capacity and from a young age I admired his role and aspired to have the same opportunity some day. (Cecilia Elliott-Alleyne)
Thanks to the Almight God for constantly making a way especially when it felt like my back was against a wall.
