There are never the right words. Yesterday I lost my father. My mentor, best friend, role model, the person I could always talk to and rely on for the most humbling and best advice. From career choices to geeky little computer things. There wasn't anything I couldn't just sit and chat with him about. Watching Jeopardy with him always made me feel like I could never accumulate the knowledge he had of so many things. More than that though, was the wisdom behind all that knowledge. The calm understanding and execution of that knowledge. I will forever be in awe and striving toward the amazing impact he made on so many people. Rest easy ol' man. You got your wings. I'll see you on the other side. "Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest." Psalm 55:6

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. And golly did they love. Each other and all of us. Happy anniversary, to two people who showed me unshakeable love. 61 years and counting. Miss y'all.

Wall of text incoming. Here stands the strongest man I will ever know. As I look over his shoulder I'm struck with an overwhelming sense of strength. I've seen life throw some of the worst it can offer at him and he just won't quit. His initial diagnosis in 2007 was a supposed death sentence. I remember having to be the one to receive the news because he was still "out of it" from an endoscopy. I later had a doctor tell me it could be days or months if we were lucky. I remember telling that doctor "my dad isn't a statistic". I had no idea, the gravity of that statement. I remember watching him, intubated and drugged, show the nurse he wanted to write something. His words were "I love you guys, it's going to be ok." His hand writing was atrocious but the message was perfect. He knew how he felt and what was going to happen. His love and faith would not falter in the face of adversity. Here we are again 11 years later. Day 1, for another radiation regiment. And he continues to be optimistic. To work and volunteer his time even in retirement. To bring my mother coffee every morning, because he can. To be unwavering in the face of adversity that would surely make even some of the best, break. To be an example of what it takes. To have faith. To love. Ladies and gentlemen, my father. Still kicking cancer's ass. Keep on ticking. Love you da.

What wouldn't I give to see your smile one more time. Happy Birthday Grandma! I love you. It feels like forever already. I can't imagine what your wait must have been like. 21 years. You get to celebrate with Grandpa this year. Give him all the hugs and kisses. Till we meet again. Thessalonians 4:14

So it's been around 4 years since scissors touched my hair. Finally made the leap today and lopped off the ponytail. (It is absolutely being donated) For those concerned, the mane is still there it's just much shorter now. Long hair still don't care.

Finally got nominated. Keep in mind folks, this is to raise awareness for ALS. I encourage anyone who sees this go to /donate and contribute. Even more than that, reach out to any charity. If something has affected you, a loved one or a friend reach out to those causes. You can make a difference in some way. It may feel small at the time but it will have a lasting impact even if you never see the result.
