Rust in fashion design. The oxidizidation process of the @elenavelez x morph steel toe shoe. Once the metal is left in an acid bath to eat away all the protective oil layers, it immediately begins to rust when exposed to air. Weâre able to control the timing of the rusting cycle to add or remove large amounts of rust on the steel before the protective layers are added.

Dipping the steel into baths of low acid to remove oils and eat away at the protective layers of the steel. This oxidizes the steel when itâs removed from the bath and re-exposed to oxygen.
