TV like this might not be made for much longer, as our media landscape changes. Three months filming for Label 1 productions (since shut down) with the dedicated, skilled, hard working and inspiring surgeons, anaesthetists, radiologists and nurses of the NHS in Cardiff, produced this six part series, which focuses on the pressures and stresses of elective surgical waiting lists.
Programs like this when made well can help us better understand our fellow citizens, and act as a form societal glue, as we witness what we don’t experience first hand. But it seems we’d all rather watch fictional millionaires on holiday in Thailand.
