I played together with @milloskaiser in so many places. The first time was at an old train depot in Sao Paulo in 2015. Then on the first Mareh boat I ever did. After that at a Selvagem party on a skyscraper rooftop downtown Sao Paulo. As well as a Selvagem carnaval party in Rio. And then more boats, warehouses, villas, clubs, basements, festivals, the old and the new Caracol… I think I lost count, but it never gets old 😌 One of my favorite DJs from Brazil and of the world. We’re already nearing the end of this season. The last Ciranda Sunday will be on May 17 at our home @doka_amsterdam 🪩 Our guest this time is @milloskaiser from Brazil! Millos was also our first ever guest at Ciranda when we were still at Noorderlicht. That was seven years ago, so it’s about time he returns. Millos always brings the uplifting energy. With a big love for 80s and 90s drummachine and synth sounds, from Chicago house to Brazilian synth pop. This photo sent me down memory lane… When I started to dj it was just a hobby, exchanging music and jamming with friends at home, playing school parties, making mixtapes. After that I played at bars for years, and then once in a while warming up at a club. I liked to dj because I enjoyed the nerdy technical side of it and searching for music that touched me. But I also liked to be in the shadowy corner of the party, participating from the sideline, so to speak (how things have changed!) Slowly I started to play in more clubs in Amsterdam and throwing parties. In that time I made a lot of mixes and some edits (those were the early days of soundcloud and it was the go-to for music lovers). Off the back of that I got increasingly invited abroad, I started taking it more seriously and making a living from it. I never planned for this to be my job, I just always wanted to share music and play at quality clubs, with decent sound and a nice crowd. That’s basically still the motivation to this day. Over time I got to know more and more about the ‘nightlife industry’. And I saw how much it is about marketing, popularity, building a brand, etc. I’ve heard people say we’re in the ‘ticket selling business’. I understand these mechanisms, but at the same time I never really had peace with it. Something gets lost when the music becomes secondary to the marketing. It’s been a balancing act between acceptance and frustration. Doing what is necessary and trying to stick to what I believe in. For me it is still about sharing music and creating spaces together where we can meet people that we might otherwise not meet. And creating moments where we can let go of some of the shitty things in our society, and for a little while enjoy music and a kind of freedom. I never thought I could do this for such a long time and I’m feeling very grateful for that. For me it’s been important to focus on what I do and put a lot of time in it, because there is so much to learn and explore. I’m not sure for how long I still get to do that, but until now it’s been special to have gotten the chance. Thank you for that 😘 PS fun fact: 20 years later the room in the photo is my studio space

I haven’t played abroad much in recent months. I do enjoy being at home and traveling less, but I’m also always itching to get back behind the knobs and share music with you all. I’m always happy to have @ciranda.music here in my hometown, where I can do my thing and congregate with you lovely peoples. And together shape a space of music and joy, that feels much needed right now. A big THANK YOU for all the good times ❤️ I hope to see you again at Doka on Sunday!

I met @rahaanrah about 16 years ago. I think the first time was actually at the old Canvas (same building as Doka). In the years after that, we played a lot together, often with @marcel.vogel . The boat parties, the Lumberjacks in Hell nights in Amsterdam and all over Europe. There have been many people that I’ve learned from along the way. But I think Rahaan and Marcel have taught me most, about disco, house, having fun and acting foolish. Definitely felt nostalgic going through these photos 😌 In recent years we haven’t played together much, I think Ciranda Outdoor was the last time. Looking forward to have Rahaan over for the @ciranda.music easter edition, Sunday next week! Let’s see if we’re still a good team💥

Our next Ciranda takes place on Easter Sunday, April 5, at our beloved home @doka_amsterdam .
 We’re thrilled to welcome Rahaan for what will be his first Ciranda Sunday. @rahaanrah played at our Outdoor edition a few years ago, but having him with us at Doka feels like something we’ve been waiting for since day one.
 For those who know, Rahaan needs little introduction. He has been sharing his music from Chicago to Amsterdam for the past 20-odd years. A true keeper of the flame, drawing from deep wells of disco and house with an unmistakable touch. His sets carry both warmth and weight, and we can’t wait to have him guide us through the evening.
 With Monday being a day off for many, we hope you can join us for this special evening. It’s the perfect way to close out the Easter weekend, dancing together, surrounded by good music and kindred spirits.

Nesta sexta-feira 13 (uhhh) tenho o prazer de receber @mrmendel em minha residência no @caracolbar . Conheci Mendel há mais de 10 anos discotecando em uma festa em São Paulo com uma estrutura enorme - mas praticamente vazia. Do flop brotou uma amizade.  Pouco tempo depois, fui fazer uma de minhas primeiras turnês na Europa e, mesmo sem conhecer o cara direito, perguntei se poderia ficar em seu apartamento em Amsterdam por alguns dias - com a cara de pau que se tem quando você tem menos de 30 anos e sem saber que ele morava em um studio de nem 30m2.  Com um coração muito maior que a casa, ele topou. Passamos bastante tempo juntos e passamos a nos visitar e a nos hospedar sempre que possível. Lá é cá. Nas minhas outras turnês que se seguiram, suas casas foram ficando maiores, assim como nossa amizade.  Com vindas anuais ao Brasil (valeu, @marehmusic !), Mendel foi se tornando cada vez mais brasileiro, cada vez mais irmão.
