• I’ve never been to an APRA awards event before, or any awards for that matter. Being nominated was nice enough. I honestly thought, we had no chance (no false humility) so I prepared nothing to say. But I wanted to make a post because of the amount of love I’ve been receiving through messages, stories, posts etc.
Firstly I thank God, for the gift of music and for song, one of the greatest creations. All praise goes back to YHWH. Thank You for Your gift & the language of music.
And secondly
@karenleeandrewsmusic , for not only believing in the song and recording it and touring it & making it hers. We wouldn’t have even been in the conversation if it wasn’t for her. One of the hardest working artists in Australia. And not only do I get to be a fan of her but I get to call her a dear friend & get the joy of making music with her. Tonne of Respect. EST 2013 & still a fan boy. 💙
My brother
@aceventoura - we were both dumbfounded walking to that stage, laughing. Adm is one of my fav musicians, to hang & make music with. He always plays at 100 & his playing remains unadulterated, and it makes me step up my game. He always pushes to create, We wrote this song on his front porch, on 2 acoustic guitars. Bro was an honour to be on stage with you.
@apraamcos - thanks for the award #1 - Being in that room made one thing clear, you champion the underdog. In an industry where it may seem like there’s limited room for few artists, you shed light on non mainstream talent too. many names that night, I had not heard of and I’m sure 4999 of 5000 thought ‘who the hell is this bloke’ when I was on stage. And that’s the beauty of what you do APRA, you include all of us; it felt nice to be seen, appreciated, and respected & you created the environment conducive for that. I’m sure a lot of people felt loved and valued that night. What a trip to be in that room. Esp 100 years. So much respect and gratitude. Thank you.
For everyone that has messaged me or shared posts and commented etc. i love and appreciate you so much & I thank for always being on the journey. •
💚🙏🏽
