Often times we tend to always be on the go so much, we don’t make a pit stop to check our engine. When we started to develop what this year’s @lablackpride would look and feel like, I was in a mental and emotional place that left me uninspired. You can literally have everything you want and desire, but when you don’t have what you need, you will always want more. As Issa Rae say, sometimes the inspiration you need is just to your left or right. So I took a step back and had to explore what inspiration and admiration felt like again. I realized that there are so many amazing individuals around me, that inspire me, and i never really realized how much I see myself in them. The unapologetic. The disrupters. The thought provokers.
So I passionately created a campaign titled #MyBlackIsGold that champions the successes, trails, tribulations, and achievements of our people we are inspired by.
Every Tuesday @nativesonnow 🤎❤️🖤 will be featuring some amazing individuals that continue to express their individuality through arts, media, and community. There are so many more people that inspire me, know that I also see you and you will always have a beauty mark on the journey.
