Minutes ago, Dior presented its Cruise 2027 show on the grounds of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Connected to the region, this iconic art space hosts the work of Arab creatives such as Youssef Nabil, who had the video I Saved My Belly Dancer recently on display.
Attended by Miley Cyrus, Anya Taylor-Joy, Taylor Russell, Ejae, and Jisoo, the show came with great expectations as it marked Jonathan Anderson’s first show for Dior. Los Angeles was the selected city as the Maison has a longstanding relationship with cinema. Not only did Monsieur Dior dress some of the most glamorous women in Hollywood — including Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Marlene Dietrich, Ava Gardner, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, and Elizabeth Taylor - but he also designed costumes for Le Lit à Colonnes before founding the House. Dior received an Oscar nomination in 1955 for his designs for Terminal Station. In 1950, two films he worked on were released: Les Enfants Terribles by Jean-Pierre Melville and Stage Fright, which was one of the main starting points for this collection.
As Murder by John Lee Hooker began to play, models took the runway wearing looks referencing the Californian poppy and later vintage American cars, which inspired the new Saddle bags with car-paint surfaces and motor-key charms. A Dior gray wool flannel coat appeared striped with the geometric shadows of Venetian blinds in a nod to film noir. Playful and eye-catching, a red dress became an experimental canvas for Anderson. “Christian Dior understood how important the idea of ‘the dream’ was for people after the war, as a form of escapism. He explored this in couture, his Surrealist friends were obsessed with dreams and, of course, Hollywood is ‘The Dream Factory,’” shared Jonathan Anderson. “It was all part of the same cross-cultural shift.” Have a first look at the show.

Thank you @sandrasawaya and the entire Dior team!
Thank you so much @ishaambani and the entire Ambani family for hosting me last night at celebration of the Indian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. As someone who loves Indian culture, I was so touched that the entire event was curated around the food, music, and art of India. And this is not a one-time gesture! Isha’s look at the MET also underlined this commitment to celebrating and communicating to the world the crafts, fashion, and culture of India. A night to remember!
Ps- I’m proudly wearing Arab designer @selma_benomar_caftan

Egyptian stone enchants Venice! After the Louvre square, Pilar Zeta’s Mirror Gate II lands at the Venice Biennale, at the San Clemente Palace. This impressive sculpture was produced in yellow alabaster, red Aswan granite, and Breccia Fawakhir from the quarries of Marmonil. Congratulations, Christiane and all the family. What a proud moment of cultural exchange. #voguearabia
