One of the greatest gifts of singleness is something many people overlook:
The gift of uninterrupted time.
Time to think deeply.
Time to pray deeply.
Time to heal deeply.
Time to build deeply.
Not because married people cannot do these things but because life naturally becomes fuller, louder, and more demanding in different seasons.
So if you are single, don’t spend all your quiet seasons only consuming content, scrolling endlessly, or waiting for “real life” to begin.
This season is real life too.
Dig wells now.
Build spiritual stamina now.
Settle convictions now.
Some things are easier to establish before life gets noisier.

Last September, I got invited by @leapafrica Africa to join a panel discussion on Hearts & Hustle: Balancing Love, Money & Purpose at the Leadership Accelerator Programme Bootcamp 2025… and I genuinely felt at home.
Because if you know me, then you know how passionate Mr Sho and I are about helping singles make wholesome and informed relationship decisions. From counselling conversations to books like “Are You Settling?” and devotionals for soon-to-weds, these are conversations very close to our hearts ❤️
So getting to speak to brilliant young women from 6 African countries about love, career, purpose, money, growth, and the decisions that shape our lives? Whew! My happy place 😄
One thing I reminded the ladies during the conversation:
We don’t live in compartments.
Career decisions affect relationship choices.
Relationship choices affect careers and life in general.
Everything connects.
And sometimes, the quality of our lives is shaped by the decisions we thought were “separate.”

It’s just a 3:28 secs watch… give me your time.
Nobody talks enough about the emotional rollercoaster of moving out of the home you stayed in before marriage.
I lived with my sister and her husband before getting married, and apparently, the normal thing was to start packing my things before the wedding 😭
Everybody kept telling me:
“Joy, start packing your things.”
My mum called.
My sister reminded me.
Even my brother-in-law joined 😭😂
And all I could think was…
how are all of you saying this so emotionlessly?? 🥹
Am I not your baby again?? 😭
So naturally… I ignored everybody 💀
Wedding came and went.
First week after marriage, I was surviving on my husband’s clothes and the few things I took for honeymoon 😂
Then events started coming up and suddenly… I had nothing to wear 😭
That was when reality finally hit me that I actually needed to go pack my things.
Then my brother-in-law called and said:
“If you don’t come pack your things, I’ll sell everything on OLX” 😭😂
That was the motivation I needed 💀
But honestly…
it was so emotional.
My business started in that house.
So much growth happened there.
So many memories.
So many versions of me were built there.
And as I packed each outfit into my box,
all I could think about was:
4 years × 365 days 🥹
My parents’ home was my first foundation.
Their home became the second.
And they did such an amazing job loving and raising me there 🤍
I’ll miss them deeply.
But I’m also incredibly grateful to God for family, for growth, and for this new chapter 🤍✨
And yes…
I finally packed my things 🥹💃🏽
