@saddles100 isn’t a product. It’s a brutal, beautiful celebration of people. Versteeg is like ultra-running Jesus (or Lucifer?), and your crew baptizes you with an ice bandana as you crawl out of the Dells.
Everyone out there gives something up to be in Prescott. It’s hard. It’s spiritual. It’s communal.
With Chloe out on tour, @madelonqueenan and @krqueenan crewed all night and paced me—Kathleen even ran a marathon with me. I couldn’t have gone sub-24 without them.
At mile 80, when my quads blew up—and they really blew up—I was alone on the mountain, cussing out my legs like David Goggins or something. But a passing runner’s quiet “hell yeah, man” kept me moving.

Rambling around on #mtmansfield and #camelshump. Endless undulating vastness. Green mountains rolling out in every direction like an ancient, breathing ocean. Something I’ve only found in the northeastern highlands.
my first 50 mi run thru rugged Arizona terrain. lots of love. very happy.
thank you @saddles100 , @satisfyrunning , the volunteers, and my forever crew @chloeduryea for that beautiful human experience 💖
