Mark Peet travelled to Lithuania yesterday for the opening of Lita Cabellut’s first-ever solo exhibition in the country. Presented at the Žemaičių dailės muziejus, the show brings together two powerful exhibitions: Blood Wedding × Bodas de sangre, rooted in Lorca’s tragedy, and Life Tearing Through Art, a journey through the five conceptual pillars that define Cabellut’s work: Life, Passion, Power, Identity, Freedom.

I am fascinated by the transition from matter to light. At its roots, the Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble reveals its terrestrial soul - deep, colored, grounded. As the form rises, it purifies, shedding its weight to reach a celestial, immaculate white at the summit.
