The Wieliczka Salt Mines have been worked continuously for over 700 years. Extraordinary. Like being in an underground Escher drawing. Around 300km of tunnels, with 3,000 caverns spread over 9 levels as deep as 325m below the surface. Tourists get to explore just 3km and descend to 130m, but the sense of scale is just mind blowing.
