This is a picture of me assembling my father's ancestors during Shaka Ilembe S2 auditions in May 2024.
let me let you in kancane on how this picture right here represents my whole life; I've never been in an audition room before Shaka Ilembe, never! (damn, writing that sentence just gave me chills). SHAKA ILEMBE WAS MY VERY FIRST AUDITION.
Behind this picture there's Mr Angus Gibson, Nomzamo Mbatha, Desiree Markgraaff, crew members, directors and producers of Shaka Ilembe. I was about to do an improvised scene (a scene with no script, no preparation, just pure emotions and talent). Just before Mr Gibson could call "action!", I asked for a moment to assemble my father's ancestors, amathonga kaBaba, izinsendema nezingonyama zekhehla elingizalayo (ey I'm a bit emotional right now writing this🤍)
Isibindi sokuguqa ngithandaze phambi kwabaphathi angazi ngasithathaphi, ngiyabonga kuMkhulu ngokuma nami. ubaba ongizalayo ekhaya uma engabona lesthombe engathakasa kakhulu emoyeni, ingikhulise ngomthandazo nethemba leya ndoda.
Fast forward, I got to set the other day on another show. ubhuti oqapha ukuphepha kwethu (security guard) asked what my surname was and told me "awuhambi wedwa mfana kaMbatha, isthunzi sakho siyesinda". I believe him now🙌🏽
