On 3 December, at COP24 in Cairo, the #100MPAMedAlliance was introduced during a dedicated side event attended by around 25 participants.
The session featured a joint introduction by MedPAN and MYD, an overview of partners’ assets, activities, and contributions, and the presentation of the project's first Policy Brief.
This contribution highlights the role of cooperation in strengthening Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas within the COP24 framework.

🌊🇹🇳 Developing Climate Change Adaptation Plans for Tunisian MPAs
On 28-29 October 2025, #MPA4Change, together with WWF Mediterranean, WWF North Africa, Blue South Med, and the Global Environment Facility, delivered a two-day capacity-building training in Tunis.
11 Participants from Tunisian NGOs, conservation organisations, and environmental institutions worked on practical tools for climate vulnerability assessment, participatory approaches, and adaptation planning for Marine and Coastal Protected Areas.
Through hands-on exercises and future scenario building 🧩, the training supported participants in identifying priority climate risks and translating them into concrete, locally grounded adaptation actions.

🚀 The MPA4Change Roster of Experts has been launched in Portonovo (Ancona, Italy)!
On October 9, 2025, the Core Group of the #MPA4Change Roster of Experts officially came to life during a workshop organized by CNR-IRBIM Ancona in collaboration with ICM-CSIC Barcelona.
💬 The event brought together experts from Portofino MPA, Brijuni MPA, UVIGO, ISPRA, SZN, and UNIVPM, joining forces to strengthen the resilience of Mediterranean #MarineProtectedAreas in the face of the climate crisis.
🌿 The Roster’s mission: to provide expert guidance and technical support to #MPAs across the Mediterranean, using the MPA4Change toolkits to help implement and monitor climate adaptation measures.
🔑 A strategic component of the #100MPAMedAlliance, this initiative aims to support at least 100 MPAs in developing climate adaptation strategies by 2030.

🌊🐟 Marine invasions under climate warming - in action!
New insights from the Mediterranean 🌍
📍 The marbled wrasse (Pteragogus trispilus), a tropical species from the Red Sea, has been recorded for the third time in Italian waters, around Linosa Island (Pelagie Islands) 🇮🇹
🔹 Documented by researchers of the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station (SZN), associate partner of the MPA4Change project.
🔹 Observation made possible thanks to the application of the standardized climate change monitoring protocols (Toolkit).
This finding adds new evidence of how climate change is reshaping Mediterranean marine biodiversity through the arrival of tropical species.🌡️🐠
