Moving to... CHINATOWN? Well, did you know... 1. Each year, the Chinese Lunar New Year is celebrated with a parade that The Washington Post called, “one of the city’s signature events for more than 50 years”🐎 2. In the short film “Game of Pawns,” Chinatown was used as a stand-in for Shanghai during filming!🎥 3. The Gallery Place/Chinatown metro stop is home to a famous sculpture entitled “The Glory of the Chinese Descendants”. It was made by Foon Sham in the year 2000. The sculpture depicts a large Chinese-style fan above a bowl of rice. 🍚 4. Capital One Arena, formerly The Verizon Center and originally MCI Center, where the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards play, is located in Chinatown, right above the metro! 🏀 5. Many of the signs, including national brands, have both English lettering as well as Chinese characters, making Chinatown a semiotic landscape!🧧
