We’re imagining a future rooted in embodied healing, storytelling, and community—supporting those most impacted by incarceration, addiction, reentry, and systemic harm. Naming what’s moving us forward, what we’re up against, and how we keep building anyway—right here in the Hudson Valley. Chocolate Mousse Surprise- the surprise is that it contains avocado! Today was a good lesson in taste-testing; our first try needed more sweetener (we used pure maple syrup) and, at the suggestion of one young chef, a touch more vanilla! These kids are really getting good at cooking😊 @movingpotential @greaterhudsonpromise

This was a fun day at Healthy Hudson! Who doesn’t love pancakes? These were super healthy ones, packed with oats and bananas. We cooked some mixed berries into a compote that the kids decided was “just like syrup!” Give them a try! #healthyhudson #nutritioneducation #kidsinthekitchen @greaterhudsonpromise @movingpotential

Lots going on at Healthy Hudson last week, as we had a class making Smoothies inspired by the idea of Zero Waste. ♻️ We had some fruits leftover from the Skewers we made previously, which we tucked into the freezer. The frozen green grapes were a surprisingly sweet snack! We added tropical flavors (mango, pineapple) and some leftover yogurt and once again the results were delicious! Smoothies are definitely everybody’s favorite thing to make and enjoy😊 Don’t miss the food “characters” we are working on in our spare moments! @movingpotential @greaterhudsonpromise #healthyhudson #greaterhudsonpromiseneighborhood #kidsinthekitchen #cookingwithkids #zerowastecooking

Our residency at @mdocs.skidmore and @skidmoredance was a true artistic exchange. From the classroom to the stage - we spent the weekend exploring the deep intersections of art, incarceration, and embodiment.
We were honored to share our mission of supporting those impacted by the criminal justice system and addiction through movement and witnessing.
Deep gratitude to @sedipasquale (“Dancing to Success”), @livylalaz (“Embodied Storytelling”), and @martabrunner6 (“Libraries and Prisons”) for opening your classrooms to these vital conversations.
A heartfelt shoutout to the incredible film department, Adam Tinkle and Angela Beallor-Press, and the MDOCS student video production crew. Your professionalism and heart created a focused, generous, and electric filming environment.
And to the audience who joined us in the Dance Theater for our multimedia performance, thank you for helping us amplify the voices of formerly and currently incarcerated individuals.
“We are not trying to ‘present’ anything here, but build something together. There really was a true dialogue that became a shared inquiry about art, incarceration, and embodiment. As creators, we fell in love with each other and that extended into the poetic performance.”
 ~ Sondra Loring, Artistic Director

@mdocs.skidmore Feb. 27–28, MDOCS welcomes @movingpotential for a weekend residency featuring performance, workshops, and the creation of a filmed document of new work on campus. Founded by Bessie Award–winning artist, Sondra Loring (seen on slide 3), MovingPotential supports individuals impacted by the criminal justice system and those navigating addiction through yoga, meditation, and dance. This residency continues MDOCS’ exploration of storytelling as a form of witnessing and connection across systems of incarceration. The visit includes classroom workshops with @sedipasquale (“Dancing to Success”), @livylalaz (“Embodied Storytelling”), and @martabrunner6 (“Libraries and Prisons”), as well as hands-on experience for the MDOCS student video production crew in documenting dance for the screen. Join us in the Dance Theater for a multimedia performance amplifying voices of formerly and currently incarcerated individuals. Presented in partnership with the @skidmoredance Department!
