Winslow Garage is pleased to present a selection of plein air paintings and drawings by Los Angeles artist Lisa Bahouth. Created in Griffith Park over the last two years, these works showcase Bahouthâs lyrical,
searching line work and sophisticated use of color. Working primarily in watercolor and pastels, Bahouthâs studio practice in abstraction naturally weaves itself into these loosely observational works making a dynamic interplay between representation and interpretation.
Lisa Bahouth is a multidisciplinary artist raised in Upstate New York and England. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design and received her BFA from The Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture. Bahouth, who is a pianist as well as a visual artist, is known to hold pencil to paper while traveling to record her lived experiences through a type of visual mapping. Her recent work is rooted in British âobjective abstraction,â a form of abstraction characterized by loose, improvisational brushwork and based on the observation of the natural world as distilled through the artistâs experiences and emotions. Her work has been exhibited in Russia, England, the U.S., Armenia and the Chibo Museum of Art in Japan, as well as the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Yerevan, Armenia.
Winslow Garage is located at 3540 Winslow Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90026
The opening is September 7, from 3-6 pm
