Officially a brother mother 🤍 Baby Mack!! Born 4/3 a happy healthy little chunker and we are endlessly grateful.
These boys have dug a well of depth and love in me I never knew existed. Motherhood cracks you open, almost breaks you, and reveals what's buried. It is the most overwhelming all consuming opportunity to keep choosing softness - when it's effortless and when it's incredibly hard. You don't know until you know and even then, it's mostly more unknowns.
Motherhood is the slow loss of illusion. It’s unknowing. Letting go. Being messy. It’s both maddeningly chaotic and deeply grounding. Reckless yet soft and soothing. It’s everything and nothing it’s supposed to be all at once, a muddled combination of individualized experiences and universality ~ a dusty ancient unspoken shared recognition.
A conflicting, convoluted experience of euphoric fulfillment, frustration, exhaustion, sacrifice, tenderness, pure joy and purpose. A highlight of the profound paradoxes that can exist all at once. A deeper appreciation of time, presence, love, acceptance. And no time for bullshit… that might be one of the greatest gifts of motherhood.
We are mirrors and projections, constantly shape shifting, adapting, and evolving ~ making mistakes and messes… always cleaning something up. Trying to keep up...
So, dust if you must... or let the dust settle. Let home be messy. Let yourself be messy.
Let love be messy. Surrender.
High hopes and low expectations. Mountains and valleys. Mistakes and masterpieces. Growth and rebirth.
