March 14th, 2026 - A new chapter of Detroitās musical legacy begins. When the originators of techno got started, they werenāt pursuing a sound that already existed, nor were they bound by convention; they were creating something new. Years later, it appears that much of what we do is regurgitation of the originators. This party honors the willingness of the originators to create something new; embrace the sounds that inspired them; and start a new chapter in our local legacy, which includes the Motown legacy. Euphoria, experimentation, and elation are the pillars of this experience and youāll definitely end up sweaty and inspired when all is said and done⦠more info to come till then save the date šš
Today I am finally going public with my newest project, Context Motion. If youāre looking for high energy, 90s and 00s nostalgia, and bouncy/trancy night out, this is exactly what youāve been looking for. I firmly believe that whatever we do in this city has the power to shape the world. I believe Detroit has a unique place the future of trance, hard house, and hard bounce. This is the first bounce and hard dance collective in Detroit but of course, house and techno part of its DNA.
Itās the culmination of 24 years of listening to trance and techno and is a project that connects me to both my childhood and the future I am dreaming of.
For nearly 4 years, Iāve been throwing parties here in Detroit. The goal when I started this journey was to bring people together and create a community of action. When I was around 4-6 years old, I heard electronic music for the first time and it was trance. I remember the feeling of hearing it back then and how I would wait for the next time it randomly came on. Around 7 years old, I started listening to techno on the radio and would dream of being in the club (odd aspirations of a 7 year old). I spent my childhood listening to trance and techno and these memories inspired me to start djing 2 years ago.
Lately, Iāve been reflecting on the scene here in Detroit and I am in awe of the amount of talent, motivation, and openness I see in the scene around me. People take music seriously here yet are willing to assist you in learning the craft. Itās on these dancefloors that I processed grief, imagined my future, and rebuilt my life after a really dark period.
What has been missing however is a collective that embodies bounce, trance, hard house, and hard house.
Sometimes I feel that our techno and house scene can be very serious and often unforgiving for newcomers and the new generation. I aim for this to be a place for people to discover the transformative experience of the underground community as they are with the intention on learning the heritage of the scene. If youāve made it this far, thank you for reading and welcome to the journey.
