In Reviewheads rise up!! This week we have coverage of the @fantasticfilmfestaus program launch & launch film DEATH OF A UNICORN courtesy of @mothmanthemoth . FFFA kicks off this Thursday night with the slasher comedy HELL OF A SUMMER which promises to blend "laughs with blood-curdling screams". Also covered by Eli is DROP, a no-nonsense thriller that's reportedly a surprisingly good time.
Then, it's time to get your block on and yell chicken jockey (or don't, please) with A MINECRAFT MOVIE, courtesy of @tylerbrusa , and in other fowl-related shenanigans we have @_oli.jordan_ bringing us some PENGUIN LESSONS. Oli also covers the international intrigue of THE CORRESPONDENT.
If you like your family entertainment to be dog-gone pretty to look at then Valerie Webb is bringing you a review of DOG MAN. On the heavier side of things, there's also reviews of SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE and THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, both brought to you by @rubyy_india .
All of these reviews are live on the @rmitv website RIGHT NOW, or if you need a link, you know where to look!!
2024 best of movies and more... part 2
Realised I wanted to shout out a few more things hehe x
185* movies watched!!! wowee. I would have liked to have watched more older films, and do a bit less rewatching (at least when it comes to at home watches, no regrets for seeing The Substance and Furiosa so many times in the cinema). I got back into physical media big time and there's a tonne of stuff I'll be watching from the collection this year that I've never seen before.
Some of the best short films I watched were:
The Land at Night (dir. Richard Tuohy & Diana Barrie)
Coreys (dir. Dan Streit)
Light, Noise, Smoke and Light, Noise, Smoke (dir. Tomonari Nishikawa)
Break no. 1 (dir. Lei Lei)
Two-Gun Rusty (dir. George Pal)
Bad Boy, Oliver (dir. Mr. Friend)
From Beyond (dir. Michael Granberry)
The Kid and the Camera (dir. Braiden Ortiz)
Belial's Dream (dir. Robert Morgan)
The Last Brunch (dir. Jim Cummings)
Iwakura (dir. Maurice Jones, Ali Mahmut Demirel & Kazuya Nagaya)
* realised I forgot to log Frankie Freako at the start of December lmao
