ABOUT REN STRAPP:
Ren Strapp is a comic artist, designer, and gender nonconforming lesbian werewolf. She grew up in Susquehannock territory and now lives on unceded land at the confluence of the Wimahl and Willamette rivers. Ren started her comics career in zines and web comics and will be a zinester until she dies. Her work is inspired by risograph printing and American traditional tattooing. You can catch her at comic cons and other events with her artist collective, The Tomb. When she’s not inside a convention center, you can catch her in the forest, where she will be camping, lifting weights, and hiking.

popping in to say hi
moth kit is in a little winter cocoon for another month while we work on new material, but we’ll be returning march 2nd with an excellent show here at the moth house with @whobroughtopie and @excitingexcellent
and will be debuting a set of mostly new material that we’re very excited about. songs about mausoleums, love, road trips you don’t want to go on, love, deserts in the fall, love, and pre-show gear chats. We’ve been embracing eclecticism and the compositions range from straight ahead country to shoegaze to pop punk and new wave.
we have some exciting stuff coming up this year including a speed-write studio recording session at @tinkerlabsrecording this month and a televised set for @localslive.tv in april as well as a slew of shows with our favorite local talent and maybe even the start of our first full-length LP effort in a proper studio.
thanks so much to everyone who supported us in our first year as band and for all the kind words and encouragement. it means more than i could express to hear that our words and sounds have connected with people. this band gives me so much life. can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store, the greatest gifts and friendship seem to come unplanned and unforseen.
thank you @gnat.jpeg for the wonderful camera work as always

Our last couple of shows in 2023 start tonight! We’re playing @beerbratsbeats tonight alongside some of our favorite people ever, and then heading up to @goodtimesbadbar for our first ever show in Seattle!
So, come get warm with us and get ready for the new year. We’ll make it worth your while—we promise.

Today, December 17, is Moth Kit’s first birthday. What started with a handful of bedroom demos written on snowy winter nights has blossomed into something that all four of us find truly special to be part of.
Thank you to everyone who’s come to a show, picked up a CD, told your friends about us, or however else you engaged with our band. All of y’all made this first year special and exciting and fun, and we’ve got so much more in store for you in the next year, too.
Things are hard out there and getting harder every day, but all of you help us remember that there’s beauty and love out there to be found. And we hope we can do the same thing for you.
Here’s to a year of bedroom demos, basement shows, bar gigs, debut EPs, desert getaways, sweaty summer days, rainy winter nights, and all the goofy karaoke songs any of us can handle.
And here’s to many, many more beautiful days to come.
Moth Kit today, Moth Kit tomorrow, Moth Kit forever.

(PS: go listen to “Shelby” on Bandcamp; it’ll be dropping everywhere else soon)
Surprise! It’s Shelby!
It’s the first day of the last month of our first year as a band, and to celebrate what might be the last ever Bandcamp Friday, we’re happy to share our new single, “Shelby.”
If you’ve seen us live in the last few months, you’ve heard us play it. And now you can listen to it as much as you like on our Bandcamp—you can find the link in our bio or visit mothkit.bandcamp.com
We’re really, really proud of this song, and we hope you fall in love with it too. Special thanks to @carousel_museum for additional vocals and instrumental work.
Also! Come to our show tonight! 8pm at Swan Dive!
We’re not thinking too deeply about how 2023, the (unofficial) Year of The Moth is almost over, instead we’re getting ready to play @pdxswandive with our sweet sweet friends in @vhs.ghost__ and Withholden!Show starts at 8, don’t be late!
Okay love you bye!
