Had an awesome weekend of musicals in LA: First on Saturday night at opening night of the brilliant Nico Juber's MILLENNIALS ARE KILLING MUSICALS at the Colony Theatre, a show i've been a fan of since early 2020, through a #mostlyNEWmusicals concert, an off B'way production, and more - it's thrilling to see it all grown up in this fantastic production! Then on Sunday, we saw the closing performance of THE MUSIC THAT MAKES ME DANCE, an all singing, all dancing powerhouse presentation of the music of Jule Styne... where I got to see the flawless Rhett George onstage, and the fabulous Michael Mullen offstage! That show has closed, but you can see MAKM thru May 17th, and you should - go out and support exciting new musical theatre in Los Angeles! #musicaltheatre #newmusicals #millennials

Apologies from amy, sound is maybe not working, and it doesn't seem to show the whole video (oops). Link to full YouTube video is in comments here's a look back at#mmLA's 2023 holiday show, with Marc Ginsburg (currently making his B'way debut in BEETLEJUICE!) updating the Adam Sandler classic....

On May 8th, the night before headed back to NYC, we were invited to a delightful event (hopefully the 1st of many) called Broadway at the Aster, produced by #bway, #mmLA & #ALNM alums Wendy Rosoff and Michael - Leon Wooley and featuring some of our favorite people. (Forgive the low quality pix, not sure they're even worth posting... I was doing it for my story, I think Eric has better ones!)

Back to April in LA, we had so much fun at @lamiradatheatre 's LEGALLY BLONDE! I've never seen it live, and oh my god you guys, this production and this cast were incredible! Plus so many #mmLA alums KILLING IT: Anthea Neri riverdancing as Paulette, Rianny going from Delta Nu to scorned stepdaughter, Bella being a rockstar dancer as well as singer, Krystle saying 'Courtney take your break' Jane Papageorge as Brooke demonstrating remarkable athletic ability, and Michael Thomas Grant as such a lovely eventual romantic lead, plus the long awaited return of Rodrigo Varandas to the LA stage and #ALNM alum Ryan O'Connell in the pit! It was a truly awesome Sunday night, I definitely felt So Much Better!

While we were back in LA, the shows still kept coming! First: Beth Lapides' UNCABARET, always awesome but esp because Laura Kightlinger. Saturday we went to @afterhourstheatreco immersive show in the NMI space, which was beautifully transformed into a salon in Paris in the 1920s. Loved seeing @frankiezabilka & @_katherinepowers_ 'onstage' and @gianttrent , @natalie.masini , @tharealinstagraham , and others in the house! Then on Sunday, we went down to @thecinevita - the world's largest spiegeltent - to see the latest incarnation of TARANTINO, featuring @traciethoms , @jamesbyous , @cheyenneisabel , Ty Taylor, and more, and got to see @jeffscotcarey (and multiple cast members of 911) offstage! I got to meet THE Ty Taylor, whose voice has been in my head, heart, and soul for decades on the cast recording of SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, and also to see one of the show's creators, Steve Mazurek (aka my OG LA crush!) On May 2nd, we went to opening night of Actors Co-op's THE SPITFIRE GRILL to see Caitlin Gallogly *killing it* as always. And then it was time for Ryan O'Connor's resort wear bday party which was a blast even w/o any sunshine! (oh, and a ferris wheel sighting on my way home, but sadly, I couldn't stop to check it out...) more soon!

the last 2 days of our April nyc trip were delightful : first, dinner with friends we haven't seen in way too long, Staci Levine & Judi Daitsman at Trecolori, then off to 54 Below for Seth Christenfeld's awesome all-star show. Then on Tuesday, it was rush seats for BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB, which were very close and also kind of amazing - the show is brilliant and beautiful and the music is killer, and I got to see Natalie Venetia Belcon up close and hear her incomparable voice! Then the next day, it was time to head back to LA.

Next in our April trip, we had a Saturday of doubles - our 2nd protest with a few thousand friends marching from Bryant Park to Central Park (this time in the 80+ degree sunshine), including our friends Meryl and Matt, followed by my 2nd time at FLOYD COLLINS (actually there was a lovely meetup with my friend Sammy Buck in-between but i sadly neglected to get a photo) Then on Sunday the 18th, we saw one of our most anticipated shows of the trip, OPERATION MINCEMEAT, followed by a quiet Indian dinner outside on a lovely evening in Brooklyn Heights.

yikes, more April in NYC photos (while i'm here AGAIN taking MORE pix!) Thursday 4/19 we saw PURPOSE, which i thought was brilliant and i'm thrilled with all the acclaim it has earned! It did make us a bit late however to the gala edition of Broadway Sessions celebrating Ben and Grant's wedding! Then on Friday, we FINALLY got to see DEAD OUTLAW, which we loved (especially getting to see the always spectacular Thom Sesma onstage and off) and then we visited a new-to-us restaurant called Miss Nellie's with our friends Meryl and Matt where we had a great time (and saw the Tony Award winning Michael R. Jackson at another table so it must be a cool spot) Whew, almost through April!

scenes from a busy Wednesday in nyc: I went to see the matinee of REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES, which was absolutely delightful, well written with excellent performances... and unfortunately a lot of current topicality. This performance came with a little extra drama... after a rather long intermission, director Sergio Trujillo announced that Elisa Galindez, the understudy for Ana, would be stepping in for act 2 - for the first time! She was fantastic and of course got an incredible and well deserved ovation. Another wow was the renovated James Earl Jones (formerly the Cort) is a real treat, they extended the lobbies into the next building, giving them an elevator, a lovely bar, murals, brand new restrooms, etc. Extra extra bonus... I found the little park with the walk thru waterfall just across the street and got to walk thru it just before they locked the gate! Then back to Brooklyn for the night to see Whitney White (the busiest woman in the biz right now!)'s MACBETH IN STRIDE at BAM which lit up a(nother) cold night in NYC. stay tuned for more!
