Looking back at Masterly during Milan Design Week 2026, where we pre-launched two new colours for the Classics Kho Liang Ie Collection: beige stone matt and grey blue transparent gloss.
Originally introduced in the 1960s, the geometric relief tiles continue to feel remarkably current today. Presented within the Artifort installation at Masterly, the collection reflected the clarity, calm and comfort that define Kho Liang Ie’s work, qualities that still resonate naturally in contemporary interiors.
The new glaze finishes add another layer to this timeless collection, while staying true to Kho Liang Ie’s original design language. The installation also connected to the upcoming exhibition and publication by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, celebrating the designer’s enduring influence on Dutch design and interiors.

Solids - Performance in every detail
Solids is designed for intensive use, combining a dense ceramic composition with reliable resistance to wear and impact. Developed in pure ceramic, it offers long-term performance across residential, public and commercial spaces.
Both surface options are suited to high-traffic areas. The smooth version meets R10 classification, while the micro-relief surface (R10B) offers additional grip where safety is essential, without compromising the overall aesthetic.
As part of a complete system, Solids includes matching stair treads and skirting elements. Designed within the same modular logic, they ensure continuity across transitions, supporting a clear and cohesive architectural result.

At Masterly in Milan, a first glimpse of the new colours in the Kho Liang Ie Collection is now on display. With the introduction of beige stone matt and grey blue transparent gloss, the series gains a contemporary extension. These new colours add an extra dimension to the relief tiles through distinct glaze finishes: a matte stone glaze and a transparent glossy finish.
The tiles are presented as part of a broader tribute to the multidisciplinary vision of Kho Liang Ie. Originally designed in the 1960s, the series remains a design classic, white glossy, geometric and rich in texture. Its modular relief tiles allow for endless compositions, creating dynamic surfaces that interact with light and space.
This presentation also marks the introduction of a new book on Kho Liang Ie, published on the occasion of the upcoming exhibition at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (14 May – 18 October 2026). The book, compiled by Ingeborg de Roode, industrial design curator at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and Kho Liang Ie’s son Eng Bo Kho, reflects a renewed attention to Kho Liang Ie’s legacy and highlights the continued relevance of his work.

A world in which waste does not exist. That is the essence of the Cradle to Cradle® philosophy. Materials retain their value, are continuously redesigned, and positively impact people and the planet.
Last Tuesday, we celebrated 15 years of Cradle to Cradle Cafés, bringing together frontrunners to show that circularity in the built environment is becoming the norm. Inspiring insights were shared by Ren DeCherney, Michael Braungart, Thomas Rau and Cécile van Oppen. It was a day full of energy and momentum for the circular transition.
At Mosa, we’ve been working with Cradle to Cradle principles for years, aiming not to do less harm, but to create positive impact. Nearly our entire collection is Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope Gold v4.1, making us the first and only tile manufacturer worldwide to achieve this. With innovations like the Re-Tile System, we enable true circular design through disassembly and reuse.

From raw material selection to pressing and firing, each step is carefully controlled to ensure consistent quality, dimensional accuracy and long-term performance. Working in pure ceramic, Mosa tiles are engineered to meet the demands of everyday use, while maintaining a refined, balanced appearance over time.
Across the different series, this approach allows for surfaces that feel calm and cohesive at scale. Subtle variation is guided and contained within the production process, resulting in floors that read as one continuous whole.
For over 140 years, this way of making has been developed in close relation to architecture, where design, functionality and durability are not separate steps, but part of the same process.

𝗔𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗮, 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹.
Pigments and clay come together through testing, adjusting and refining, guided by a deep understanding of how ceramic behaves over time. Carefully selected, responsibly sourced materials ensure that every colour not only feels balanced and nuanced, but also aligns with our commitment to more sustainable design.
Subtle shifts emerge naturally, creating tones that feel true to the material. It’s a process of working with, not against, the material, where every colour carries the mark of how it was made.

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝘀 - 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲
Solids reveals its character through the way light and material interact. A layered ceramic surface allows subtle variations to emerge gradually, giving depth without distraction. Matte softness and material clarity come together in a floor that feels warm, balanced and composed.
This expression is shaped through an analogue production process, where clay granulates settle naturally in the mould under gravity and pressure. Carefully controlled, this method ensures consistent quality and material integrity, while allowing the surface to retain its natural character.
Scale plays a defining role. Larger formats allow colour and texture to unfold across the surface, creating a strong sense of continuity. At the same time, smaller sizes and plank formats introduce rhythm and flexibility, adapting naturally to different spaces while maintaining a coherent whole.
A floor that finds its strength not in contrast, but in balance.
