I was excited for this month! Here’s my entry for this month’s challenge by @ciaobellabreads and @feinbackhaus 🌾
I had some frozen blackberries from last year’s garden that needed used up so I made a berry cobbler with freshly milled spelt!
Homemade maple whipped cream to go on top. So good!

Two weeks with 50 Red Rangers 🐓
A couple things we knew going into this but have definitely started to witness:
- They eat a LOT. I’m refilling these little feeders twice a day so far. They’re moving out to the chicken tractor in a couple of weeks and will be able to forage. We’ll also upgrade our feeder situation by then. We anticipate each bird needing around 10lbs of feed per week 😬. We’re outsourcing our feed from a feed mill to help with cost.
- They drink a LOT. We immediately added a second water source. We make sure they have access to clean, fresh water always.
- They grow FAST.. I feel like all chicks do, though. Babies just don’t keep 😆
