One day makes a difference. After sunset tonight Venus is joined by the crescent Moon. it's waxing, which means it will continue to get fuller as the month goes on.
(now you know why the Cocteau Twins have that song Wax and Wane on their first album "Garlands" - 1982.)

Venus finally moving high enough above the horizon for us to view after sunset! She'll "star" in the night sky for the next 6 months. Better photos than this to come soon! 😊
Mike Frazier still killing it. The clips he posts still blow my mind - great to see. I pulled this still from a @philhajal clip. Skating this hard in the Summer here in Florida indicates 100% dedication! 🔥🔥🔥 (this is to Fakie)
40 years a go today Chuck's Ramp was finished. Our first "big boy" ramp - 2ft. of Vert. Thanks to Chuck and above all his parents for providing a spot and putting up with all the skaters invading their life! Those were the days!!!
Venus, Jupiter, Mercury and the crescent Moon (Luna) this morning. View as large as you can (to see anything). The first image is exaggerated to help get an idea of what this morning looked like. The 2nd image is notated so you know what's what. The 3rd image isn't altered at all. I know no one reads this far, Instagram is just about the worst host for Planet imaging and landscapes in general... but what are you going to do? i tried.
A day of boiling clouds and the Moon from 10 years a go. Sadly i lost over an entire year of photos on a bad hard drive - that wasn't properly backed up. A couple of images from 2015 were uploaded to various social media sites - but not in full image quality. sadge. #boilingclouds #clouds #moon #moonphotography #picsfrom10yearsago
Venus and Jupiter Conjunction day 2.
Much better viewing conditions today. Jupiter is on the left, Venus on the right. #venusjupiter #venusjupiterconjunction #venusjupiterconjunction2025 #venus #jupiter #plaetphotography
Venus and Jupiter Conjunction this morning (Aug.11, 2025).
Viewing conditions were terrible - a lot of mist in the air making everything look very dim. This long exposure actually looks much better than what you could see observing with eyes only. This was 90 minutes before sunrise. With all the rain we had overnight i was surprised to be able to see anything. In fact about 30 minutes after this the low clouds obscured viewing completely. #venusjupiterconjunction #venusjupiter #venusjupiterconjunction2025
