Some people may find north Germany bleak, but its beauty is undeniable. Few exhibition spaces express its unique atmosphere so eloquently as the Carlshütte, a former iron foundry operated by the first manufacturing company in the dukedoms of Schleswig and Holstein. Opened in 1827 and closed in 1997, this site in the town of Büdelsdorf is an impressive industrial monument. With its historical buildings, the colossal foundry halls, the extensive park with its old trees and an exhibition café, the Kunstwerk Carlshütte has developed over the years into a very special place for exhibitions, concerts, readings, theatre performances and film screenings.
Since 1999 the NordArt has established itself as one of the largest exhibitions of contemporary art in Europe which takes place anually in the summer months. The @nord_art is an overall work of art in its own right and is designed as such each year. More than 200 international artists, selected by a jury, present a comprehensive panorama of contemporary art. Each individual work not only speaks for itself but also creates new perspectives when seen juxtaposed against the unique backdrop offered by the Carlshütte and the adjacent historical sculpture park.

Welcome to #eltville, one of my favourite spots! The #timberframe road on the #rhine will head you need to this socalled "pearl of the #theingau, the #city of #wine and #roses! The magnificient noble estates and aristocratic villas on the river promenade as well as the beautiful Crass Castle, today a hotel and restaurant, are witnesses of Eltville’s historic significance and wealthy past. Eltville had its first documentary mention in Vita Bardonis (Bardo's life) from 1058, a biography of Archbishop Bardo of #mainz. Whenever you are in #frankfurtammain area, make sure to take this 30min drive to the west. It truly is a #mustsee when you #travelgermany.

The times we live in are affected by logical and comprehensible decisions taken by our goverment in order to protect our physical health. Even though I do understand each one of the steps we are taking as a society, there always is a vivid dichotomy in me calling for resistence. This opponent of my rationality demands for something I have no words to express. All I know is, that it is based on #moral and #ethic and that it is trying its best to avoid this cultural atrophy we are all facing.
With this inner conflict it is difficult to trust which is in odds to the fact that faith is the reason I can live with it. So maybe this is what explains the quote by Khalil Gibran - at least it is for me. I understand and accept faith as something that I may always struggle with but never lose it.

The #pilgrimage Church Maria Straßengel is a fourteenth century #gothicchurch located on a hill overlooking the market town of Judendorf-Straßengel in the district of Graz-Umgebung, a few kilometres northwest of #graz, Austria on the right bank of the Mur river. The town was first mentioned in the year AD 860 as Strazinolum.
The fourteenth century Gothic pilgrimage church was constructed between 1346 and 1355, and contains an important high altar. Once surrounded by fortified walls and guarded by a three-story tower (1355–66) with elaborate stonemasonry, the church still retains 77 sections of its fourteenth century Gothic stained-glass windows. The original plans for the high altar in white marble (1885) were originally drawn by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach in 1687 but never carried out. The pilgrimage church contains a piece of tree root shaped like Jesus on the cross. This root is not displayed to the public, but shown to people on request.
