Happy Mother’s Day to everyone celebrating today 🌸🩷
In my short experience of motherhood so far, I have found it exhausting, terrifying, challenging, an emotional rollercoaster and I have been pushed to limits I never thought I would been able to cope with….BUT, it has also unlocked a level of joy I have never experienced before.
I wrote ‘Pearl’ before I became a mother, and now the lyrics are even more meaningful to me 🩷

Dankbar schau ich zurück auf drei tolle Monate voller Konzerte … Erstaunlich, erfreulich busy war's – in weiten Teilen das Verdienst meines Freundes Jan, der sich reingehängt und erfolgreich Förderung beantragt hat für eine ganze Reihe von Konzerten mehrerer Bands. Das hat in schwieriger, unsicherer Zeit Musikern und Veranstaltern geholfen und vielen Menschen Freude gebracht. Danke, Jan! Und danke allen Beteiligten für eine wunderschöne Zeit!

Pardon me as I say that this was the best year of my life.
When Germany went into lockdown and everyone practiced social distancing and staying at home, I started dating my very good friend Robyn and sharing the sweetest romance together. And since we had come to know each other a fair bit and both knew where we wanted to be going, we decided to get married, not just anytime but rather sooner than later, before this crazy year was over. We set our heart on this cool date, 12/12/2020, and started organising a decent big party in our home town Berlin, but when parties got outlawed and our plan fell apart one restriction at a time, we found a beautiful solution and finally were able to have a dream of a wedding in Robyn's home country of South Africa. The timing was fortunate: a lovely summer celebration, one month after borders opened for travellers from Germany, two weeks before South Africa went into another lockdown and weddings and wine could no longer be had.
Having just started on our life-long honeymoon, we are looking back in awe at a fabulous year and ahead to a fantastic 2021 and a bright new future like neither of us ever expected to. We hope our story will serve to inspire and encourage everyone that a change for the better can be right around the corner when things look their worst.
We wish everyone a happy new year – keep hoping for that turn of tides, it may come sooner than you think!
