We have provided cost advice throughout the pre-contract stages, and are delighted to see this project get the green light and become a reality. The A-listed structure is famed for its Modernist design, and its importance is celebrated across the global architectural community.

We are delighted to announce that one of our projects is the winner of an RIAS Award 2021!
Kyle House back to the 19th century, with the challenge for the design team being to breathe new life into the structure, creating a sanctuary for guests and nature lovers to enjoy the scenic Highlands.
This involved considerate restoration of the stonework which dates back to the Iron Age, and a complete interior fit-out based on a simple materials palette, sourcing locally where feasible.
M+B's cost consultancy role steered the project through various challenges both pre and post contract. We are delighted to have been involved in this project and extend our congratulations to the rest of the design team.

The new Johnnie Walker Experience on Edinburgh's Princes' Street is now open! These photos simply speak for themselves.
Last week, we attended the soft opening of the new visitor experience and are delighted to see it open to the public yesterday. The site formerly occupied by House of Fraser has been regenerated into a multi-storey visitor experience of the highest quality, centred around Scotland's world famous Johnnie Walker. The challenging project included elements of re-structuring the building, restoring historic aspects such as the Binns' Clock, and creating the rooftop terrace which provides one of the best views of Edinburgh Castle you will find. We are enthused to see new life breathed into this building, considering the hardships department stores have faced in recent times.
We have provided cost control services from the start, and have enjoyed watching this project grow over the past 3 years. The Johnnie Walker Experience now joins Scotland's extensive whisky heritage, and is a must see when visiting Edinburgh.
We'd like to give special commendation to our Stephen Moffat, one of the team who worked round the clock to provide our client with the cost control required to deliver a project on this scale.

We're delighted to hear that one of our projects in Jedburgh has been given additional funding towards its regeneration. The Porthouse is a Category A listed building in Jedburgh in need of crucial repair work to preserve its heritage. The South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) have pledged £25,000 towards its repair and refurbishment. We are proud to contribute our services to the conservation of culturally significant architecture like The Porthouse.

His world renowned, distinct style can be found predominantly in Glasgow but also in other parts of Scotland.
M+B were involved at different stages of the preservation and development of the Hill House in Helensburgh, which some would say is his magnum opus.
M+B were involved in early stage cost consultancy for the "big box" temporary preservation solution, as well as giving cost advice on an initial condition survey on the building. This was important in steering the preservation project towards an agreeable solution, ensuring Mackintosh's work endures for future generations.

This is what happens when you combine resourcefulness with out-of-the-box thinking.
Two buildings in Brisbane, Australia, have now been restructured to become one freestanding building. It is said to be the first of its kind across the global built environment.
By "stitching" these buildings together, added cost and harmful carbon emissions were saved by negating the need for a demolition and disposal process.
Kudos to this design team!

We see the Game of Thrones prequel "House of the Dragon" has started filming recently. This reminded us of one of our most premium projects in recent years - The Great Pagoda in Kew Gardens.
Dragons were a key feature of the historic Grade 1 listed structure. Did you know 80 missing decorative dragons were reinstated for this project?
- 8 were hand crafted in African cedarwood
- 72 were 3D printed in nylon
The tower was designed by Sir William Chambers as a birthday gift for Princess Augusta who founded the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.
The celebrated project was opened by HRH Charles, Prince of Wales and is about to reach the third anniversary of its completion.
Projects like this demonstrate our considerate and measured approach to conservation work of all kinds.
