This weekend you can still see a selection of 3D-printed design objects by More Than Layers in the former Beschuitfabriek in Haarlem, as part of Kunstlijn Haarlem: the city’s annual art route connecting galleries, ateliers, and unexpected creative spaces all over town. Discover our sculptural furniture, such as our coral coffee table, made from recycled fishing nets.
Location: Voormalige Beschuitfabriek, Haarlem
When: Saturday & Sunday: last days!

We’re looking back at a great exhibition: Objects of Desire in 3D Printing in Kortrijk! Proud to have been part of this inspiring international showcase at Art and Design Productions, where designers and studio's from 9 countries presented their most creative and expressive 3D-printed works. The exhibition beautifully highlighted how 3D printing has evolved from prototyping to a mature medium for design, art, and production. A big thank you to @hanssoenenart and team at Art and Design Productions for bringing such a diverse and high-quality selection together.

We’ve designed and 3D printed a lot over the years at MTL | More Than Layers. Some stuff works, some stuff doesn’t. These 7 materials are our go-to when it comes to robotic 3D printing with recycled and bio-based plastics.
They’re reliable, interesting, and give you room to experiment.
We're sharing our favorites, so you can use in your design.
If you’ve got an idea that fits one of these materials (or want to try something we haven’t used yet), send it in for the 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒔:

We’re offering free robotic printing time and material all August.
No cost. No fancy pitch. Just a solid idea we can build on.
What if your idea could be 3D printed on a robot, for free!?
This summer, we’re opening up access to robotic 3D printing. No cost. No catch. Just you, your team, your ideas, and a chance to make it real.
Together with our friends at 3D Makers Zone we sponsor the material, the robot time, and help you make it printable.
It’s called Summer of Layers. An open call for designers, artists, and creative teams who want to bring an idea into the world and bring Robotic 3D Printing a step forward.
Join or tag someone who definitely should. The more we share, the more we will print.
You don’t need a finished render or polished pitch, just a direction you’re excited about.
Each week in August has a different theme.
Week 1: Sharing is Caring – submit something you’ve worked on before but never got to print.
Every week, at least one idea will get made. The rest? We’ll still give you feedback so see it as a learning experience too.
Want to ignore the themes and follow your own idea? No problem.
Submissions are open all August. The earlier you apply, the easier we can start.
And if it works, we’ll explore onboarding your design to the More Than Layers platform for future production.
We’re doing this to lower barriers, share resources, and grow a community.
If you're a company and want to support, with material, software, or time, reach out.

We’re not selecting winners. We’re selecting ideas worth printing.
