The hardest part about learning CLO3D isn’t the software—it’s the pattern making.
If you don’t have a background in traditional pattern cutting, staring at a blank 2D window trying to draft a complex jacket from scratch is intimidating.
Here is my workflow hack: let the physical drape do the math for you.
Grab some scrap fabric and a dress form (even a half-scale mini form works perfectly). Start pinning. Draping physically forces you to understand garment construction. You will naturally see where a dart needs to be placed or how a sleeve head connects.
Once you have the physical shape, take a photo, drop it into CLO3D, and trace it. You bypass the complex math and go straight into 3D simulation.
Don’t let a lack of pattern-cutting skills stop you from building complex digital fashion. Use your hands to figure out the puzzle, and use the machine to scale it.
