Ива е любопитно момиченце, което обича да събира буболечки и да определя формите на облаците. Или поне беше, докато не се опита да ловува пеперуди в старата църква, където стана свидетел на смъртта на един от най-добрите си приятели в крехка детска възраст.
Възможно ли е огромното черно нещо с дългите нокти и острите зъби да е истинско? Или стресът от нещастния случай просто е придал ужасяваща форма на една чисто човешка трагедия?
Според призракът на мъртвия ѝ приятел, който започва да я навестява девет години по-късно, второто може и да е вярно.
Въпреки това въпросът е друг. Коя е по-лошата идея:
- Някой да купи стара църква и да я превърне в модерна бензиностанция в село, което практически никой не посещава?
- Да отидеш да работиш в същата тази бензиностанция, въпреки травмата която си изпитал преди години, защото ти трябват нови обувки?
И кое от двете всъщност пробуди Нещото, което старата църква избълва?
