Back in 2004, when I was getting more and more involved in photography, one day I received a call from the street magazine „Surprise“. They asked whether I might have the time and interest to photograph a young, emerging soul musician for them. Her name was Amy Winehouse, and she was coming to Zurich for a showcase.
As a former record store clerk, I of course knew who Amy was, since she had released her debut album „Frank“ only a few months earlier.
And there she was: the then 21-year-old Amy Winehouse, sitting in the lounge of Kaufleuten in Zurich, rather shy and reserved at first. But as time passed, she became more relaxed in front of the camera.

Sie nennen sich «Töfflibuebe Toggenburg» und sind zwischen 17 und 30 Jahre alt: Dario, Patrick, Silvan, Jan, Nicolas und Remo. Gefahren werden ausschliesslich Mofas aus den 1960er- und 70er-Jahren – Puch Maxi, Puch Velux, Sachs, Pony oder Belmondo etc.
Die Gruppe organisiert regelmässig Ausfahrten, auch über Alpenpässe bis nach Kroatien oder Nizza, sowie ein jährliches Treffen. Nicht weniger wichtig ist die Arbeit in der Werkstatt – Vergaser justieren, Motoren instand setzen, Verschleissteile austauschen. Ersatzteile werden gesammelt oder auf Märkten gesucht; Originalzustand und Patina gelten als besonders wertvoll.
