Our native breed British Lop pigs enjoying their freedom again. We will keep a couple of these girls for breeding and the rest will end up as pork in our honesty shop freezer in a couple of months time.

We’ve had lots of our sheep effortlessly deliver their lambs in the spring sunshine these past couple of weeks. We keep Exmoor Horns which are a hardy breed and make excellent mothers. They also produce fine tasting lamb, hogget and mutton from grazing moorland pasture, available to buy in our honesty shop shed.

Is it sleeping pigs you’re supposed to let lie?
We are quite open about how our pigs are exclusively outdoor reared. These piglets even were born outside in December.
However these little *$!#?*!! (Please insert your own favourite naughty word) have been giving us the run around for the last few weeks. After finding them trotting down the road (40 mins after being secured in a field) yesterday evening we decided they need a bit of jail time!
They are at a frustrating age where they’ve been weaned from their mum so no longer have any desire to hang around with her, have all the rebellious nature of kids headed off to uni and they are just slippery and small enough to limbo under any gate or keyhole gap under a fence.
A couple of weeks and these cheeky porkers will be back outdoors, if they continue to test our mental state then they will next be seen in our honesty shop freezer!
