"And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper." - Luke 14:23-24
As reported by the Daily Wire (link in bio). United Gun Shop is suing Capital One for blocking their banking services due to political reasons and in violation of Maryland Law.
I'm so glad to see our local shops fighting back and I hope they win this lawsuit. This is a problem in our industry where the big banks will rip the rug out from under you in a heartbeat. I have also heard of this happening where the bank will freeze your accounts and lock down your money. It could take months to get that money back which can kill a small business. This type of discrimination against the 2A industry has to stop and hopefully this lawsuit will help.
So Ed Markey, Elizabeth Warren, and Richard Blumenthal think that 3 Senators have the power to request documents from a private business without a subpoena. This letter isn't worth the paper it's printed on. I hope @mtnbillygunlab sends back a nice screw you letter and then frames this one on the wall as a badge of honor.
This is performative politics and this letter holds no weight whatsoever. An actual committee would have to subpoena the information which isn't going to happen because the Democrats don't have control. If they did have control they would have broad powers to subpoena information from a private business but the information requested still has to serve a legislative purpose. This request does not serve a legislative purpose, it's nothing more than a hit piece and quoting a report from a liberal rag like the Smoking Gun is proof of that.
Let me be clear that I don’t know why this case was dropped. Maybe there’s a good reason and a bigger strategy here but the order to dismiss was granted 2 days ago. Since then I haven't seen anything from any of these organizations.
Regardless of the reason, the National Rifle Association, Firearms Policy Coalition, and Second Amendment Foundation need to provide an explanation soon.
The case is Jaymes v. Bonta and was the challenge to California’s Glock style handgun ban that goes into effect this summer. The Maryland General Assembly just passed a similar law that takes effect January 1st, 2027
So does this hurt a Maryland lawsuit?
Short answer: In my opinion no. I still fully expect that fight to happen.
But here’s where it gets interesting…
If the California case had gone forward and the law got struck down, and Maryland’s law got upheld by the Fourth Circuit, you’d have a circuit split. This would be more enticing for SCOTUS.
Now the path to SCOTUS is a bit harder because let's face it SCOTUS hasn't exactly been eager to jump into Second Amendment cases lately.
On top of that, dropping this case could send a message to other states: “Go ahead, pass it.”
I hope there’s a long game here that we’re not seeing yet.
But at the end of the day, the people of California and the members supporting these organizations deserve an explanation.
Hmmm... DC goes from not prosecuting for the public carry of long guns as well as not prosecuting solely for possession of standard capacity magazines to threatening law abiding gun owners. Hey @judge_jeanine maybe you should just do away with the arbitrary restriction of not allowing reciprocity. @potus@agpambondi@fbidirectorkash@kristinoem@senategop and @housegop you all had better get your act together. You all are driving an unnecessary wedge between you and one of your largest support groups. With mid terms coming up I don't think the path you are on is the best course of action. As the great Senator from Louisiana @senjohnkennedy would say "I'm not saying you are the dumbest person in the world but you better hope the dumbest person in the world doesn't die"

Hey @fbidirectorkash@potus@kristinoem perhaps study the Constitution and the Bruen decision. The Second Amendment is not a second class right. Exercising one right such as the First Amendment does not preclude you from exercising your Second Amendment. Keep up the anti-gun talking points and you will alienate so many gun owners that you the 2026 midterms would be all but lost.
Maryland is trying to follow California by banning all Glock style handguns with a cruciform trigger bar. Reach out to your lawmakers and sign up to speak.
