A packed house, a brilliant conversation, and an author at the top of her game. Last Friday we partnered with the Melbourne Writers Festival to welcome Irish crime writing superstar Dervla McTiernan to the Clocktower Centre, in conversation with Angela Savage. The venue was at capacity and the energy was incredible.
Dervla spoke about her path from law to writing, setting 'Three Reasons for Revenge' in Melbourne, and even teased a brand-new series. One of our favourite moments: “Libraries connect people to books and us to each other.”
Huge thanks to everyone who came along, asked thoughtful questions, grabbed a book from Collins Booksellers, and lined up for signings. A wonderful night all round. #MelbourneWritersFestival #DervlaMcTiernan #CrimeWriting #BookSigning #LibrariesChangeLives #ThreeReasonsForRevenge #CollinsBooksellers #AuthorTalks #MooneeValleyLibraries
#FlashbackFriday ⏳On this day in 1906, the Mayor of Essendon, John Dowling called a meeting to form a 'River League' with the aim of beautifying the banks of what we now call the Maribyrnong river. This photo, taken above what is now Pipemakers Park, shows the situation they were looking to change!

It was so lovely to welcome Tim Pilgrim, author of 'Wild by Design', to Flemington Library, in conversation with Millie Ross from Gardening Australia. 🌿✨
We explored how working with seasonal rhythms and welcoming wildlife can turn our gardens into thriving, beautiful spaces. 🐝🌼
Thanks so much to everyone who came along and shared the evening with us 💚
