As many of you know, there’s a global matcha shortage, so we’ve been intentional about spacing out restocks every 2-3 weeks to avoid raising prices. 🌙 That said, we promise a big batch is under production again!

I used to be a hojicha hater 🙅♀️…..not until I tasted @moonbugmatcha ‘s premium dark roast hojicha
There’s always been this aftertaste in most hojichas that I just couldn’t stand & couldnt figure it out. Idk if its ashy, seaweedy or almost like sucking on a coin. I could never get past it.
But then I tried Moonbug Matcha’s Premium Dark Roast Hojicha…
Upon whisking, it hits you with this warm, coffee-like aroma. And the taste? All I get is creamy dark chocolate & hint of caramel. No weird aftertaste. Just smooth, roasty, naturally sweet chocolate.
The real surprise? I can drink this completely unsweetened. It’s naturally sweet on its own.
But here’s the game changer, I added a pinch of sea salt… and GIRL. The umami came roaring through. Chocolate + caramel + that deep savory richness, it completely transformed. 😩
This hojicha literally converted me from a hojicha hater to a lover. 🤎

Meet Genmaicha —matcha’s “toasty cousin.”
Genmaicha is a combination of green tea leaves and roasted brown rice which adds some roasty, nutty, and a lingering savory depth that mellows down the green tea grassy bitterness. It has this compelling toasty bean/popcorn-like aroma that suddenly reminds me of the good ol’ days. It definitely smells amazing and has rather quite warm, & comforting taste. 🙂↕️✨
Still the cozy, intentional ritual but calmer, and unhurried. Have you guys tried genmaicha?
