What a privilege it is to be included on shows like this; what an honor it is to share a bill w/such talented people in front of a room of likeminded friends. In today’s sociopolitical landscape – where corporate overreach runs amok on everything, including goth and techno tours,
@bloodraveeveryday continues to prove that authenticity will never be matched by those who cosplay the underground with easily replicated gimmicks or marketing.
@nowhere2runproductions runs a Blood Rave by name, but it allows US to help define what it means beyond the limits of a movie franchise. That’s very important. Real DIY underground movements happen because we define what it means. We are not a cashgrab defined within marketing for a movie that too many promoters didn’t even create with their own blood, sweat, and tears…
No explanation is needed when you know that the same minds behind Code Orange; the minds behind NoWhere2Run are the ones powering this. I’ve been fortunate to play a few of these now. This team is a skeleton crew of dedicated people who are setting up at 1pm and tearing down until 4am. I see them taking mini-naps in between jobs backstage. I see them eating the 2nd half of their sandwich in between filming local/regional performers they platformed on THEIR show. These people give a shit and it really matters. These are the people to support, if you care about maintaining the quality of OUR underground.
Some tours have special guests from the movies (nothing wrong with that)… BUT this tour has special guests from the very bands, DJs, performers, and artists that paved the way. I’m not telling anyone what to do or how to have fun, but I am pointing out the nuances. Those nuances are the difference between paying $40 for a dollar menu sandwich vs $30 for a 5-star steak dinner. They are not the same.
Joining my friends (new and old) on this bill (I’ll have a whole other post for that), alongside these legendary artists, performers, DJs, & producers, is exactly the goal I’ve always wanted when I started this. Thank you!
