bit of a dream job this month writing a solo violin piece and getting to watch @galliakastnerviolin absolutely rip through it in my favorite room at eastwest. no one plays like Gallia, truly...

really happy to put 'eight weeks' out. it's my first time doing anything like this. when you're not very good at reading sheet music, sheepishly handing a quartet some scores you wrote and watching them play it gracefully and perfectly the first time feels like a magic show. or like an ancient ritual. write the runes in the sand and watch the sea god emerge. same with charlotte who recorded this whole song first take in my garden shed kinda laughing like, is that good? (yes.) I saw a video of charlotte singing an adrianne lenker song on instagram and immediately texted and was like will you sing some songs I'm working on. the thing about music is that no one actually knows what music is or why we like it. it's just sounds. it's the wildest thing to me. anyway if you disagree let me know. here's a bit from another song we recorded that's unused (for now)
