I've been coy in the past about music I've released, but I'm really proud of this one.
I understand its potential and could "hear" a finished version in my head, but had to get a lot better at a number of things before I could release it. Playing, singing, arranging, lyrics, mixing, mastering, etc. So addition to it being a song love, I also see it as a marker of how much I've grown and progressed. Holding on to it until I was good enough to make it what it could be was a worthy and rewarding challenge.
And as much as I leveled up playing, producing, singing, mixing, and mastering during its on and off creation; there were still a number of folks who leant their knowledge, experience, ears, and patience to the process.
Thanks for listening 😊
I don’t think we’re the first generation with empathy, but we’re the first generation with empathy who has to be explicitly aware of suffering that we were never supposed to encounter.
This is not an argument about willful ignorance or a lack of accountability, but a hug to everyone who feels deeply about things they can’t control.
Care without constraint is self sabotage, and to have a tender heart and an omniscient eye is closer to a curse.
Can’t let ‘25 on the gram go without a wildly overdue England post. My first trip to the UK, made so much more special by @stokesbook , who saw something in me I didn’t see in myself and took a lightning rod to my creativity in a way that I desperately needed this year.
