Pop-up Here | “Way of Life” with @monohanako@mirukashisalon
There are things a mother never writes down—the moment to add salt, the way she folds rice into her palm, what she hums when no one is watching.
Prairie learned these not from a book, but from being present. After moving from Vermont to the mountains of Kyushu, she navigated life as an outsider until she found her place in Hanako’s mother’s kitchen. For our Mothers Day weekend luncheon, they brought that shared history and onigiri recipe to Taipei.
We didn’t talk about motherhood directly. We didn’t have to. It was already there—in the candlelight, the hand-formed ceramics, and the way everyone stayed long after the coffee had cooled. In these shared moments, we don‘t just find a seat at the table; we find our community.
