Züritpp / Klänge wie Alufolie an den Zähnen
«Es ist wie Alufolien kauen ... nur viel besser.» Dieser Satz steht am Ende einer Pressemitteilung, welche Silvio Tommasinis neuen Sound umschreibt. Wer je auf Alufolie gebissen hat, der weiss: Besonders easy und entspannend fühlt sich das nicht an, es ähnelt einem schwachen Stromschlag, der durch Mark und Bein fährt. Das Erschaffen musikalischer Entspannungswelten war aber auch noch nie Tommasinis Thema. Wann immer er sich in sein Alter Ego monoblock b verwandelte, drosch er wie ein Berserker auf seine Geräte ein und predigte dazu eine Art Vocoder-Dadaismus - und das Publikum drehte früher oder später durch. Deshalb darf man getrost konstatieren: Die Alufolien-Metapher passt perfekt - auch zu den jüngsten, von einer psychedelischen Rhythmik à la Front 242 angetriebenen Elektropunk-Bastarden, die monoblock b für sein neues Doppelalbum «Teatime in Medellin» produziert hat.

monoblock b – Screening Announcement
I’m presenting an early monoblock b work at E.N.C. – A Screening Intervention by Marc Jauss.
The experimental video clip by Alain Jost is built around a track from my first release “Fabrikluft” (1997). Created in 2005, the work reflects early monoblock b aesthetics: raw, direct, and rooted in industrial landscapes.
Screening with artists such as Pipilotti Rist, A.C. Kupper, Elodie Pong, Price, New Kyd and others.

Born in Singapore 🇸🇬 and raised in Basel 🇨🇭 Silvio Tommasini alias monoblock b has been active as a musician, performer, DJ and sound researcher since the early nineties. Influenced by darkwave 🌑, industrial, punk and EBM 🎚️ he combines dark soundscapes with technoid rhythms and distorted vocals - raw, intense and uncompromising.
At the end of the 1990s, he moved to Zurich and co-founded the experimental label Spezialmaterial 🎶. Since then, monoblock b has played clubs, festivals and art venues in Switzerland, Europe and beyond - often described as a ‘phenomenon’ with spectacular live performances 🌟
He has released a total of seven solo albums and is represented on over 20 compilations. In addition to his solo music, he also composes for theatre productions, films 🎬, performances, installations and experimental formats. monoblock b live 🎛️ - a noisy one-man performance between darkwave 🌑, EBM, industrial and mechabiotic techno.
