As many of you know, starting on Nakba Day, I committed to running 107 kilometers in one month—the distance from Occupied East Jerusalem to Gaza—as part of a fundraising challenge for Medical Aid for Palestinians (@medicalaidpal ). I was already deep in retreat prep, with long days ahead and much on my plate, and I wasn’t sure I’d manage. But somehow, I did. I finished the 107 kilometers in 14 days, while still in Morocco. I met my fundraising goal, too—thanks to so many of you who gave generously. It’s been deeply motivating to see your donations and messages come in - thank you. There’s still time to donate if you haven’t yet and feel called. Even though I’ve technically completed the challenge, I’ll keep running—after a few days rest for my ankles—in hopes of raising more. The link to donate is in my bio. The retreat in Morocco was shaped in no small way by this parallel experience—leading a group in deep practice while also moving through exhaustion, running through winding roads and unfamiliar terrain at sunrise, often alone (shout out to @magsiemags_ , who joined and kept me company 2x). It was a different kind of retreat for me, one that asked more than usual, for personal reasons too, but gave more, too. It deepened my sense of what practice is for me: how it meets me in complexity, how it teaches me endurance, and how it can be an act of care for the wider world. And thank you again—for those who’ve donated, and those who continue to show up in other various ways, using your voice, or protesting, or writing your MP’s or just having those sometimes difficult conversations —for remembering that our practice doesn’t end when we roll up the mat. The formal practice is merely prepping us for the informal practice - where our yogic principles are most needed, especially right now. With love,
Mona Started with a picture of me (thanks @elineroex for taking it) to throw a rod in the algorithm! 🔨 We all know how it works! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Six years of @highyogaschool , and this weekend another training began, the room in Islington slowly filling with the quiet attention the work seems to ask for. I feel fortunate to be part of this community, and deeply appreciative of everyone involved, and of the students who trust us enough to begin. I’m never quite sure who reads these captions anymore, and I’m increasingly aware that this platform often sits at odds with the thoughtful and embodied practices we’re trying to share. So I’ll keep this short and say only this: Although these practices alone cannot solve our burning world, I do believe, approached bravely, they can spark the meaningful action that is required for change, as well as give us a place to retreat to gather our strength and recover our breath — less alone, and more together. Big thank you to our entire HYS team and teachers, and students. We appreciate you. Mona (Christian, & Mags) 🫶🏼

Exciting announcement 🥳 We’re very happy to introduce Lucia Zanone and Mags Karenova, both graduates of our 200-hour training and currently completing their 300-hour course with us. As our new co-teachers, they’ll also be supporting and assisting during our upcoming 200-hour teacher training, and we’re grateful to have them so closely involved. Lucia brings a deeply thoughtful, inclusive approach to her teaching, shaped by her own journey of healing, relocation, and self-discovery through yoga. Her classes are intelligently sequenced, grounded, and inviting, offering students space to explore, reconnect, and meet themselves with honesty and curiosity—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Some of you might already know Mags as our incredible operations manager. Alongside everything she does behind the scenes, Mags is a committed and passionate teacher whose practice is rooted in clarity, presence, and accessibility. With training in Vinyasa, Rocket, and Yin, she offers a balanced, supportive approach that meets students where they are and encourages sustainable, meaningful practice. We’re excited for you to experience their teaching and support in our next 200 hour program. They both assist Mona on Mondays at 6pm at @mission.e1 , and you can find their full teaching schedules on our website! Give them a quick hello! @magsiemags_ @luciazanone

Huge congratulations to these incredible teachers who’ve just completed a major portion of their 300-hour training with HYS! They spent 25 beautiful days in Indonesia with us on a small, sleepy island — courageously turning inward, deepening their practice, and strengthening their connection to themselves and each other. Now we move forward into the final three modules — one step closer to graduation! 🎓 We’re (just barely) emerging from our social media silence, so expect some photo-dumping soon 😄 — and keep an eye on your inbox for our upcoming newsletter! With love, The HYS Team 🇮🇩 #HighYogaSchool #300HourYogaTeacherTraining #AdvancedYogaTraining #HYS

Our 300-hour manuals have arrived, and we’re sending them out to our very first cohort! 🎉 This project is why @christiancoelhoyoga and I @moncits have been a little anti-social in our personal lives (🫩🫣😂) and so quiet on here for the past six months—we’ve been writing ✍️ nonstop! To say we’re excited is an understatement. What makes it even more meaningful is the incredible group of established teachers and dedicated practitioners joining us. We’re so grateful for the growth of this community—and even more so for the genuine connections we’ve built along the way. A heartfelt thank you to Mags, our operations manager, for holding down the admin fort so Christian and I could write. Deep gratitude as well to our loved ones for supporting us through this venture. And last but certainly not least: thank you to Matt @yogawithmatt who wrote the anatomy manual for this program and will be joining us in Indonesia to share his expertise with our students! With love, Mona (with Christian, Mags & Matt) ♥️
