Well, debuting The Love Bugs!!!! We have Beauty, and The Beast, and Bug-Eyed! All were not accepted into WOW (World of Wearable Art). We don’t always get what we want… that was my third year trying and it wasn’t the charm! Some art sites have been posting articles about rejection, and artists feelings about rejection, and how you can handle rejection. I’ve been doing this for 51 years- I have hardcopy files from the olden days and digital files of rejections! Hundreds! It’s true that after a while and with enough experience, you have a pretty good perspective on it… It can happen for a myriad of reasons and often they don’t have anything to do with whether your art work is good or not. However, there are definitely some that sting and World of Wearable art for me is one of those stingers. In 1993 I was in New Zealand and I saw a poster for a wearable art show on the back of a stall door in a public bathroom. We went to the show, which was in a little church basement, and I was enthralled. Fast forward to today and it’s an absolutely extraordinary extravaganza of wearable art done Cirque du Soleil style, but I would venture to say that it is even better than Cirque du Soleil. Anyway, I’ve decided that three times - three strikes - and I’m out. That’s OK. I’ve got other places and other adventures to put these wearable sculptures into.
